Yin Yarr Booty Haul
06/20/2008
Due to 2Fort already being played, another stock map had to be chosen to take its place this week. The CP strugglefest, aka Badlands, was chosen and it wasn't a bad decision either. Badlands saw by far the best struggle between two teams in the Yin Yarr league yet. If you haven't watched the demo of the Xian vs Salvador match yet, do eeeet now!!! Match 1 Naughty Bits Inc. vs. The Jungle Penguins The first match placed one of the top contendors in the YY League, NBInc, vs. The Jungle Subbing Penguins (seriously, they had like 4 subs for this match). Things got off to a good start for the Penguins as they managed to kill all of NBInc when they clashed at the center CP. The Penguins then marched on to NBInc's 2nd CP...well, a few of them did. Most of them seemed to be gathering back at the center CP. LOOY eventually tried to sticky jump his way to the top of "the spire" but was immediately blown up by Ryu's awaiting stickies. Thanks to the constant backstabbery of Flare...more

With Happycow getting voted out of this week's map choice, 2Fort was moved up to replace ole Bessie. 2Fort is notorious for being a turtling map, where it comes down to defense vs defense and that was the case in the matches this week (yawwwwwwn, but it's 2Fort so, yeah). Match 1 Naughty Bits Inc Vs. LHCB The first match was against the two top teams in the first Yin Yarr league, NBInc and LHCB. The match started out with NBInc going with a mostly offensive strategy, with an offensive Engineer. They only had a Demoman and Sniper on defense, but this didn't temp LHCB to push out. With NBInc applying great pressure in the LHCB base, they got their hands on the Intel a few times, but couldn't get a cap due to the solid defense of LHCB. LHCB had their Spy on attack for most of the round [42]Fear managed to cap the Intel first and put his team up by one. After noticing how LHCB wasn't really pushing out and offensive engineering was proving to be rather useless, Rush decided to...more

Week 2 hath arrivedith! This week the teams faced off on the multiple CP map, Gravel Pit. Deciding which point to defend and which to leave to the winds was a key decision for each team. Strategy was key for this map, especially in the Highlander setting. How did each team fair? Read on to find out....or go outside and excercise, your choice, hehe. Match 1 LHCB vs. Jungle Penguins Jungle Penguins Attack Round 1 The first round of Match 1 saw the Jungle Penguins attacking and LHCB defending. At the start of the round the Penguins opted to go B first (typically the hardest point to take on GPit) where LHCB decided to defend over A. The intial uber by Ichabod on Gregor took out the sentry of LHCB, but they were soon dealt with by the counter uber of Jon Magic. With their uber beat and almost all their team dead, the Penguins decided to go capture A, which LHCB let them have. It didn't seem to matter too much that they let them have A either, as the Penguins couldn't...more

The first map that has graced this league of drunk pirates and sneaky ninjas, was the newest stock map created by Valve, Goldrush. A map that has been played like mad since it was released; Goldrush promised intense firefights and demanded strategic effort by both offense and defense to secure the booty..or hold of a team from securing the booty. The first week saw two teams steal the gold with easy as the other two teams put up valiant fights, but in the end were overwelmed. I'm also sorry for how long this is, but Goldrush is a huge map! Match 1: Naughty Bits Inc. Vs The Jungle Penguins Stage 1 - NBInc The first match pitted the penis...I mean, Naughty Bits Inc.{NBInc} crew against the maniacal Jungle Penguins /^>^\ of Brazil (I guess Brazil anyway). NBI was set to attack first and right out of the gate they showed those nasty penguins they meant business. With Crash leading the way as Heavy, with his trusty Medic g00f behind him, Crash mowed over the enemy to clear the...more
